DegustAbruzzo will lead you through a journey under the banner of typical Abruzzese cuisine, of landscapes, of culture and traditions, to discover the most beautiful villages in the region.
You will be able to develop your culinary and oenological skills, discover the secrets and the atmosphere during the Easter period in the greenest region of Europe.

 

1Day (Holy thursday)
Transfer by private minibus from Rome FCO airport to Vasto (ancient Roman city) on the wonderful Adriatic coast.
Check-in in hotel***, Welcome dinner in a traditional restaurant in the heart of Vasto.
After dinner participation in the "Sepulchral Night", one of the most interesting traditions of Holy Week in Italy, the habit of visiting sacramental altars (called sepulchres) more he asked on the evening of Holy Thursday.

2Day (Good Friday)
After breakfast, we will leave to explore the Abruzzo coast called "Costa dei Trabocchi" for the particular wooden platforms suspended between sea and sky used in the past by the fishermen of the area, present only on this stretch of the entire Adriatic coast.
We will meet a fisherman who will show us how to fish from the Trabocco, we will taste a small fish aperitif on the trabocco accompanied by delicious wines.
Then we will head to a farm where the owners will reveal the secrets of herding and cows. There will be the opportunity to milk a sheep or a cow, we will learn how to prepare ricotta in their dairy and we will learn how to make a particular type of bread called “Pizza Scima”.
A delicious lunch will be prepared and served, it will also be time to savor our freshly made warm ricotta.
In the afternoon, return to Vasto, guided tour of the ancient Roman city, to discover the monuments and history of Vasto.
After visiting the city of Vasto, it is possible to participate in the procession of the "Dead Christ" in the historic center of the city.

3Day (Holy Saturday)
After breakfast we will visit the market of Vasto (Santa Chiara market) to buy the best seasonal products, then we will move to a small typical restaurant where we will take a cooking class. We will learn how to make fresh pasta (pasta alla chitarra, tagliatelle) and tarallucci with wine (sweet typical Abruzzo).
A delicious lunch will be served with what was prepared in the morning.
Free afternoon for your activities (go shopping in the center, visit vast marina, etc.). Upon request, there is the possibility to participate in a ceramic painting course, or take a guided tour in the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve.

After dinner there is the possibility for those who want to participate in the Easter Vigil in one of the churches of Vasto.

4Day (Easter Sunday)
After breakfast, transfer to Sulmona, city ​​of the Roman poet Ovid.
We will discover the city of Sulmona and visit its most important monuments.
We will participate in the event of the "Madonna who runs away” in the square, a narrative and very emotional evocation of the encounter between Mary and the Risen Christ.

5Day (Easter Monday)
After breakfast, departure for the ancient medieval village of Roccascalegna.
We will visit the enchanting castle and attend a festival with falconry hunting demonstrations and theatrical performances that will take you back in time to the magical atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
Lunch at the farmhouse
In the afternoon we will move to Castelfrentano, where we will taste the renowned "Bocconotto", very tasty typical Abruzzese dessert.
Return to Vasto and free dinner in one of the many restaurants in the city

6Day (Tuesday)
After breakfast we will head towards Orsogna, to attend the "Talami", one of the most popular events of the Easter period in Abruzzo. A breathtaking parade of seven allegorical floats carrying sacred images inspired by the Holy Bible.
Group lunch in the square with the typical pasta of Orsogna "Gnuccune Aristufate", a special type of pasta.
In the afternoon on the way back we will visit the famous castle of Ortona
And the Abruzzo Regional Enoteca where we will have an aperitif tasting the best wines of Abruzzo.
Return to Vasto
Farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant in the center of Vasto.

7Day (Wednesday)
After breakfast, departure for Rome FCO airport, or for your next destination.
